Styling Guide
how to dress for lifestyle sessionsI often get asked what clients should wear to their photo session. Styling for sessions doesn't need to be difficult! I've put together a dressing guide to help you.
Most importantly, select something YOU feel comfortable and confident wearing! I think this guide is worth considering & I hope it helps. Feel free to reach out if you have questions!
1. Select a tonal range
Above are the colour palettes I feel photograph best; however I've included pallet options and examples to help guide you.
Neutrals: white, ivory, taupe, grey, black
Earth Tones: beige, tan, brown, navy, rust, olive
Jewel Tones: mustard, forest green, navy, burgundy, rust

2. Add texture
Texture can add depth to a photo. Lace, knitted sweaters, scarves, or a jean jacket are all examples of how you can stay within your colour-pallet, but give dimension to your outfits. Try to limit your patterns to one person if you feel uncomfortable with styling.
3. Coordinate outfits
One of my favourite tips for styling families/couples is in-direct matching and coordinating outfits. Stick within one colour pallet or different tones of a specific colour. I've included some examples below.
4. Consider session location
Are you getting your photos done on the beach? Then it might be better to use a lighter pallet, or neutrals. If you're in the mountains, jewel tones pop beautifully against the darkened background.
*Try to avoid:
- Texts & Logos
- Sleveless tops
- Bright neon colours
- Identical outfits
